CHINESE EMBASSY WARNS ITS NATIONALS

China will not ruin its long standing friendship with Zimbabwe The Embassy’s statement comes in the back of a report that a Chinese employee shot and killed another local employee over a wage dispute. The accused has since been arrested. The Embassy urged both Zimbabweans and Chinese nationals to jealously safeguard the good relations the two countries have built over the years. “China and Zimbabwe have a long-standing friendship and cooperation. We call upon relevant sides to safeguard it jealously and carefully,” reads in part the statement The Chinese Embassy in Harare said it will not shield its national from facing the wrath of the law. “We are highly concerned about the case in which a Chinese employee of a private Chinese company near Gweru shot and injured a local employee due to a wage dispute yesterday. “Although this is an isolated incident and the Embassy has now law enforcement authority over the enterprise, we firmly support Zimbabwe’s law enforcement agencies to transparently and openly investigate and handle the case in accordance with the law of Zimbabwe. Any possible illegal acts and persons who violate the law should not be shielded,” further read the statement.
