China's success means that we too can make it: Ambassador Mutsvangwa

By Margaret Kamba

ZANU PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Ambassador Chris Mutsvangwa says the People’s Republic of China's success signifies that Zimbabwe too can make it.

Speaking after meeting with the Chinese People’s Association of Peace and Disarmament delegation led by its Secretary General An Yuejun, Ambassador Mutsvangwa said cooperation with China in seven key areas will churn Zimbabwe into a large economy.

The CPAPD is an organization which champions peace across the world and promotes mutual understanding, friendship and cooperation.

Sharing contents of the two-hour discussion held at the Party headquarters in Harare on Wednesday, Ambassador Mutsvangwa highlighted that a lot can be learnt from China. The CPAPD delegation met ZANU PF Secretary for External Relations Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, Secretary for Information and Publicity Ambassador Chris Mutsvangwa, Chitepo School of Ideology Principal Cde Munyaradzi Machacha as well ZANU PF directors.

"We had an extensive discussion, as you know the Communist Party of China CPC, has charted the defence of China on sanctions after the war and they have propelled China to be the second largest economy in the world," Ambassador Mutsvangwa said.

"There's a lot of experience of modern nation building which we want to learn from the CPC because it is the Party which has performed better than any other Party in history in terms of delivery of economic prosperity in the world to the largest number of people in the world at any particular time, 1.4 billion Chinese who have migrated from extreme poverty to pulsating prosperity.

"It is also bringing in a lot of business acumen which China is now excelling in. It means the success of China signifies that we too can make it. There's no wholly grail which is confined to the rhetorical western industrialised nations as champions of economic success. China has done it and in due course there's prospect that they can become number one in the world."

Ambassador Mutsvangwa added that they "discussed economic cooperation and identified seven key areas where Zimbabwe has world class resources which attract world class capital."

The areas include tobacco, gold, steel, lithium and digital mining.
