Called to deliver a message of peace: Bishop Makururu

By Margaret Kamba

When one is called for divine purpose, he and no other can stop him. He obediently follows the will of he who sent him and unapologetically so. This is the story behind the Johanne the 5th of Africa founder Bishop Andby Makururu who received his calling in1985 and began preaching the message in 1997.

Mistaken for being a politician, Bishop Makururu preaches about the history behind Zimbabwe and why it is imperative to uphold peace.

"I started preaching in 1997 because when I was anointed in 1985 I was still young. I started preaching to the Africans to know the history of Zimbabwe, the ruling ZANU PF Party and how it brought peace independence.

"It is important to understand that people understand that sound leadership comes from the Supreme Divine being and the ancestors of the land. Unfortunately people have resorted to becomibg English, have rejected their culture and way of life which is why they are misguided and suffer from many forms of social ills.

"We need to increase our spirituality in order to harness the immense benefits that God has reserved for his people.

"Sad events as that registered in Palestine have shown the hand of the enemy whose plots have witnessed the opposition in Zimbabwe working tirelessly to reverse the gains of independence, peace and development.

"Only the Roman Catholic church which is behind this colonialism sits pretty with proper spaces to operate from yet local churches find it difficult to acquire places to worship in. It is the church which prays for the leaders, guides society in the way to go and hence must be recognized for it. His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa has with open arms allowed the church to thrive because he sees its relevance in the growth and development of this country. It is important that we support him as he is the chosen leader to move the country forward."

Speaking about the far and wide of his church, Bishop Makururu noted that "churches housed in Mozambique are a recognition of the fact that some of Zimbabwe's gallant sons and daughters still lie buried in that country which helped bring freedom to Zimbabwe."

He took time to advise parents and guardians that early child marriages and drug and substance abuse can only be dealt with if the children are brought under the wings of the church and the numerous beerhalls turned to productive places such as supermarkets.

"I am tormented by the spirit daily as it requires me to speak this message."
