The United States of America Embassy in Zimbabwe continues to meddle in the affairs of Zimbabwe by enticing the Broad Alliance Against Sanctions BAAS to drop their anti-sanctions campaign.BAAS has camped outside the US Embassy for over 300 days as they pile pressure on America to remove the sanctions unconditionally. The US imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe when the country embarked on the Land Reform Programme that saw the landless black majority benefiting immensely. The liberation struggle which saw many people maimed and several others killed had been premised on taking back the land. The US continues to create a picture that they are relaxing their stern measures on Zimbabwe by removing deceased people from the list such as Cde Shuvai Mahofa. BAAS co-founder and spokesperson Cde Sally Ngoni says the US Embassy tried to bribe them in order to turn them against their government.“We held a meeting with the US Ambassador to Zimbabwe Brian Nichols, Jeremy Presto and an official from the US Embassy in South Africa in which we discussed a lot of things relating to reforms. We highlighted how our government has done reforms looking at the Montlante Commission of Inquiry as well as MOPA. Their answer was that days after MOPA had been done, the Zimbabwe Republic Police had been seen at the Harvest House beating up people. They said that shows that government was not willing to do reforms,” Cde Ngoni. “We inquired how then they had let us sleep in the rain outside their Embassy with no proper sanitation facilities. They offered to give us tents as long as we moved from their Embassy to camp outside the State House, Parliament of Zimbabwe and Munhumutapa. They also said they could buy us cars and houses of our own choice but we told them we could not go against a democratically elected government just as they do not do that in their own country because doing so does not fend for the 14 million Zimbabweans so we declined their offer.”The US is failing to achieve its goal of controlling Zimbabwe and its racism has been shown by the recent stunt by US President Donald Trump China angrily referring to the coronavirus as “the Chinese virus.”Trump’s language has been described as “racist and xenophobic” adding politicians’ irresponsibility and incompetence. The West has always attempted to separate the people of Zimbabwe from their culture by teaching them unAfrican tendencies.Their promotion of homosexuality, selfish and self-centred attitude tendencies. The African people are known for their communism. It has always been known how the whole village shares, rebuking a child has always been done by the whole village and where agricultural work is made lighter through team work. For the BAAS to forego the comfort of their homes and camp outside in the open is for the good cause of the whole country and not their own. In this day in age many have forgotten their brothers and sisters in pursuit of a better lifestyle.
