AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SYSTEM TRANSFORMATION STRATEGY IN LINE WITH VISION 2030 The First Secretary of ZANU PF and President His Excellency Cde E.D Mnangagwa said that the Agriculture and Food System Transformation Strategy provides a campus for agriculture in line with vision 2030. President Mnangagwa said this whilst addressing delegates in Matepatepa, Bindura where he was invited at Kunatsa Estates to bear witness to the commendable work being done towards achieving the Winter Wheat Programme targets set out “The Agriculture and Food System Transformation Strategy provides a campus for agriculture in line with our national Vision 2030 and seeks to create an enabling agriculture investment, agriculture innovation and technology, research and development sector coordination and effective service delivery," President Mnangagwa said. “The Agriculture Recovery Plan and the Livestock Growth Plan represent specific crop and livestock development projects and programmes which are expected to transform agriculture into a US$8.2 billion agriculture economy by 2025 with multiplier effects across the whole economy." President Mnangagwa went on to highlight that he had recently launched the Agriculture and Food System Transformation Strategy which was derived from the Agriculture Recovery Plan and Livestock Growth Plan which benefited from the late hero Minister Perrance Shiri. “The tour of this estate is most opportune and comes only two days after my launch of US$8.2 billion Agriculture and Food Systems Transformation Strategy. The Composite Strategy is derived from the Agriculture Recovery Plan and the Livestock Growth Plan and anchors our endeavours to attain food and nutrition security,” he said. “These three Plans benefited immensely from the contribution and leadership of the late National Hero and former Minister of Lands Agriculture, Water and Rural Resettlement Air Chief Marshal (Rtd) Perrance Shiri.” He went on to assure farmers that Government will continue supporting them so as to improve agriculture productivity. “Rest assured that my administration will continue to support farmers as we improve agriculture productivity towards a prosperous, diverse, sustainable and competitive agric sector," President Mnangagwa said. "I therefore, challenge farmers to fully exploit the abundant land and water bodies to produce strategic agriculture products to meet our national demand and penetrate to the global value chains."
