As Zimbabwe prepares to commemorate the sacrifice by Zimbabwe’s gallant sons and daughters on Monday, August 11, 2025, ZANU PF Secretary General has called on youths to reflect upon the sacrifice by the young people of that time.

Speaking during an interview at the Party Headquarters in Harare, Cde Mpofu said the day will be remembered forever.

“This is a historic day of our calendar where you had heroes sacrifice their lives for our country. It is those heroes who founded our country. The day is important to the country as we remember patriots most of them interred at the heroes acre. The day will be remembered for decades to come,” Cde Mpofu said. 

“To the youths this liberation was brought by the youths of that time. They sacrificed their lives. This is not normal independence. A lot of blood was shed.”

The day is being celebrated under the theme, "Zim@45: Devolve and Develop Together Towards Vision 2030."
